Gypsabella has risen through the ranks in recent years to become one of Liverpool's most successful fashion brands. This week, we spoke to owner Abbie Day about how her business coped during the coronavirus pandemic and what the future holds.
Gypsabella was created in 2017 by Abbie and since then, things have only gotten better for the fashion brand. With 213k followers on Instagram currently, Gypsabella is a firm favourite for girls around the city of Liverpool, including myself and even the rest of the world.
We discussed all things Gypsabella past, present and future. Initially Gypsabella started out as a hobby for Abbie but then in February 2018, she made a huge decision and left her job to run Gypsabella full time which has certainly paid off.

We last spoke to Abbie in 2019, just before Covid hit. Abbie thanked Covid's amazing effect on Gypsabella and said: “In Covid, the business did the best it's ever done, it got me to where I am now."
“Every single day we were absolutely smashing it. Before Covid, I was quite limited with what I brought out, I only ever brought out 'going out’ clothes, I didn't really do loungewear at the time. In the middle of Covid, I started bringing out lounge wear and no one was doing anything so everyone was just buying and buying.”
Along with Abbie, her sister and best friends are part of the backbone of Gypsabella. Abbie said: “Most people would say don't mix business with pleasure. It was hard at first speaking to your mates as you don't want to tell them off as you never really argue with your mates.
“My mates are the type of mates that respect me and I have to pinch myself sometimes because they will never ever have an attitude with me. They respect me and they really, really work hard. I’m so lucky to have girls like that.”
We also spoke about her day-to-day life at Gypsabella and how everyday is so different from the rest. Abbie said: “My day is keeping on top of what is constantly needing to go online because that's where the money's made.
“But a typical day for me would be to come in, look at the numbers and see what we can sell, what pictures need taking, sort the unit and make sure every little bit of stock is either put on a sample sale or taken pictures of so we can keep on top of it. Otherwise loads of stock haven't got pictures taken and it's just money gone to waste.”
The future of Gypsabella sounds so exciting. Abbie said: “I want to expand and get an in-house design team. Get a buyer who can deal with other manufacturers, get a fashion designer and we would need to expand in terms of where we are now and get a bigger unit. So, I’d probably say baby steps right now but that's where I'm definitely looking to go.”
