Meet the other Irish fighters looking to impress on Leigh Wood v Michael Conlan undercard

Michael Conlan's world title showdown might be the focus for Irish fans this Saturday, but there's three other Irish fighters to keep an eye on.

The Belfast boxer takes on Leigh Wood in Nottingham in his first fight for a world title after a stellar amateur career, with the former Olympic medallist set for his biggest test yet on an exciting card.

And there's other Irish talent set for run-out, including fellow Belfast fighter Caoimhin Agyarko, Pete Taylor-trained Gary Cully and Dublin heavyweight Thomas Carty.

We've taken a look at the three other Irish fighters in action this weekend:

26-year-old Kildare lightweight Gary Cully fights high up the card in Nottingham.

With 14 professional wins under the guidance of Pete Taylor, the rising star is tipped for big things in the pro game after an impressive youth career that saw him win a European gold medal in 2013.

But he faces a definitive step up in quality in the form of former world champ Miguel Vazquez, a fight that will open plenty of doors should he have his hands raised.

A prized Matchroom Boxing signing, Eddie Hearn unveiled the Belfast boxer in his home town at the press conference in January.

Agyarko was teammates with Cully at underage level for Ireland, and the 25-year-old is looking to move his professional record to 11-0.

Matchroom are likely to have his bout high up the card as he takes on Juan Carlos Rubio.

Thomas Carty

Dublin heavyweight Thomas Carty will compete in just histhird professional fight on Saturday as he takes on Poland’s Michal Boloz.

The heavyweight won both of his opening fights, taking a stoppage win against Igor Vasiljevs in October.

The Bohemians fan is managed by none other than Dillian Whyte and has an exciting career ahead of him.
