Meet the girl behind Ladies Day 'just going the races' TikTok video

A hilarious video created by a young girl from St Helens is making the rounds again.

Lylah Norman, who was nine when she created the video last year, makes TikTok videos via a private account - and her one about the Grand National stood out from the crowd. The young girl from St Helens made a video recreating her view of how Scousers get ready for Aintree’s famous Ladies Day.

In the video Lylah puts on a very convincing Scouse accent, which her mum Rachel says is probably thanks to her dad, who is from Liverpool. Wearing a tartan dress, a big pink bow, a pair of large sunglasses and a smear of lipstick across her face, Lylah captures how a lot of Scousers will be starting their Ladies Day.

Her mum, Rachel Byrne, said Lylah loves making comedy TikToks all on her own, and started making videos during lockdown. She does not have a Scouse accent, but does an amazing impression of Scouse girls getting ready for Ladies Day.

Looking at the camera, Lylah says: “Hiya girls, just going to the races. Got me makeup done, me hair, me eyebrows. I think I look beautiful, you know. Let’s go.” The video then cuts to Lylah on a rocking horse, dressed as a jockey, urging her horse to go faster.

Lylah’s mum Rachel told the ECHO : “She does funny videos all the time. She hasn’t got a Scouse accent but puts it on. She thinks she’s a little comedian. She does them on her own although she may come across a little sassy, it’s all for jokes. She’s a very pleasant kind little girl who just loves to make you laugh.

“She’s got a few [TikTok videos], not a lot, but she takes the mick out of chav videos. I think she’s taking the mick out of me half the time.”

Lylah stole many hearts with her impressive video last year, and it's already happening again this time around. Lylah's no doubt well-prepared for future Grand Nationals.
