As summer rolls around in Edinburgh, families will be heading off on beach days and other exciting trips across the country.
Many families take their pets with them on caravan trips and other local holidays, as they consider their dog or cat to be a staple member of the clan.
Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home are aiming to re-home a various selection of pets, in order for them to become the integral part of a new family.

While the charity in the capital creates a loving place for the pets, their main focus is to have as many dogs and cats adopted by their perfect owners as possible.
Listed below are just a few of the animals searching for their perfect family, or forever friend to look after them.
Munro
- Breed: Cocker Spaniel / Labrador
- Age: Three years old
- Sex: Male
- Size: Medium
- Can live with: Cats, other dogs and teenagers
- Home Requirements: An experienced and active owner, and a home with a garden
Munro is looking for an experienced dog owner who has a home with a private garden.
He may suit living with teenagers aged 14 or more, and he could potentially live with another pet.
Munro is confident and affectionate when around people that he knows, but he will need a few visits to build a bond with his new owners.
When he trusts you, it is obvious that Munro is a very loving and sweet boy who is lots of fun to have around.
He is very playful and loves to learn new things, and because he loves to use his nose, he could enjoy doing scent work sessions or man-trailing.
Munro has lots of energy and likes to keep active, so would like an active owner who can make sure he gets all the exercise that he needs.
He particularly enjoys running around on the beach and he loves to play in water.
He likes his food and is partial to fruit and vegetable treats, and he is always happy to spend some time enjoying a tasty filled Kong or lick mat.
Poppy
Poppy is looking for an experienced owner who lives in a quieter area away from the city centre.
She may suit living with high school aged children but needs to be the only pet in her home.
She would like a home with direct access into a private garden with high fences.
Poppy is a nervous girl who is very anxious around new people and in busy environments.
She is very sweet with people that she knows and enjoys being fussed over, but takes a while to build a bond with new people.
She is an energetic and playful girl who would suit an active person who will enjoy taking her on long walks in a quiet area away from traffic.
As well as needing work to overcome her anxiety, Poppy needs to work on her fear reactivity around other dogs and her desire to chase after cars, so she needs a committed owner who is willing to spend time overcoming these issues.
Mylo
Mylo is looking for someone who has owned dogs in the past and has some experience with separation anxiety.
He needs to be the only pet in his home and will need to have company for most of the day. He may suit living with older children aged 12 or more.
Mylo is a happy and affectionate wee guy who loves being fussed over and is friendly with everyone that he meets.
He is energetic, wee and likes to keep active, and could enjoy doing an activity like flyball or scent work.
His favourite place to walk is the beach, where he loves splashing in the sea and running around on the sand.
He enjoys meeting doggy friends for a walk but can be too much for some and does get jealous at times, so would suit being the only dog in his home.
Mylo isn’t too keen on the car, and can react to loud noises like the hoover, he has been working on this while with the charity, but would benefit by continuing this work with his new owner.
He loves being around people and gets very upset when left on his own, so he will need a lot of company until he learns to cope with spending some time alone.
Jester
Jester is looking for an active owner and a home where he can have company for most of the day.
He may suit living with older kids aged 12 or more and would prefer for his new home to have access to a garden. He would like to be the only pet in his home.
Jester is a sweet and happy boy who is very friendly and is always happy to meet new people.
He loves human company and enjoys a bit of fuss and a scratch, but he isn’t a clingy dog and is happy to go for a snooze in a comfy bed when he knows someone will be around.
He likes using his nose, so he enjoys sniffy walks, so he may love doing some scent work.
He has a lot of energy and likes running around in the charity's paddock. He would like to be active with his new owner and would enjoy running or hill walking.
He loves tasty treats and occasionally enjoys playing with a toy. Jester would like an owner who is prepared to continue his training.
Graham
Graham is looking for a dedicated and experienced owner who has had large dogs in the past, and is willing to work on his training with the help of a recommended trainer.
He needs an adult only home where he will be the only pet. He needs a home away from the city, where he will have access into a private garden.
Graham is a very sweet and loving boy who unfortunately gets easily overwhelmed when he starts to feel anxious.
He needs an understanding owner who lives in a quiet area and can walk him in quiet spaces which are away from traffic.
He is not keen on other dogs so will need to have space away from them while he learns to overcome his fears.
Graham has been working hard on his training while he has been staying with the home, and has the potential to be a very rewarding and loyal pet for the right owner.
Graham has lots of energy, so enjoys exercising, and loves having time in our paddock to run around freely.
He also loves playing with his toys, having enrichment time, and learning new tricks.
Graham is an affectionate dog, and because he has no idea of his size, he tries his best to be a lap dog and enjoys snuggling up on the sofa whenever he gets the chance.
Mavis
Mavis is looking for an experienced owner, who has preferably had a Staffie in the past, and would benefit by having an owner with experience of dog reactivity.
She needs to be the only pet in a home without children. She would like a quiet home with access into a private garden, and would prefer to have company for most of the day.
Mavis loves people and is a friendly girl who loves being made a fuss of.
She is not keen on other dogs and unfortunately, she has found life in the kennels quite stressful because of this, so is looking forward to finding a quiet home where she can enjoy chilling out.
She loves having a comfy bed where she can have a snooze, and she loves enrichment time, especially enjoying activity toys, or a tasty filled Kong or lick mat.
She likes walking but prefers not to be around other dogs.
