They’re the hottest names on every guest list — and you’ve probably never heard of them.
So much was confirmed in LA on Sunday (November 12) night, during the first premiere of The Crown Season 6. Ed McVey, 22, Meg Bellamy, 20, and Luther Ford — the lucky trio of actors playing Prince William, Kate Middleton and Prince Harry — poured onto the carpet, and were the headline act.
Together they put on a uniform display of Gen-Z (read: not Palace-approved) black tie. McVey wore a white Valentino dress shirt with black flower detailing on cuffs and collar; Bellamy opted for a crystal-crossed, plunging black satin slip from Stella McCartney, while Ford had a Timothée Chalamet Venice film festival moment in his Saint Laurent ruched black satin sleeveless blouse, sash, flared trousers and patent heeled boots. ‘Ziggy’ the corgi had a turn on the carpet, as did Elizabeth Debicki in a Diana revenge dress by Bottega Veneta. Something for all the family.
These bright young royals will be sat in the spotlight in coming weeks, but all three have quietly stormed recent London society events in preparation. Even though none have yet broken the Instagram 10k follower cap (McVey and Bellamy are close) their summer saw sponsored trips to Goodwood, Wimbledon, top gallery parties, Vogue dinners — you name it. Bellamy sat front row at Dior Haute Couture in July, while the on-screen-brothers looked cosy as they took their spots at the Hermès show in Paris the month before.
Alongside all having nicely pointed jawlines, the triple act also share the fact they have been plucked from relative obscurity. Their casting followed a far-and-wide social media search in August 2022 which detailed “strong physical resemblance” as a priority, and that no prior acting experience was required.
Bellamy did not have much by way of theatrical training; she grew up near Berkshire (also the childhood home of Middleton) and was head girl at her school in Wokingham, where she studied drama. McVey had an advantage following his year studying at Drama Centre London, and had also been an understudy at the 2021 Old Vic Theatre performance of Camp Siegfried, while Ford has a penchant for being behind the camera as much as he does in front. As per his Instagram account, he has written and directed a number of short films including horror When Bill’s Alone, and, most recently, a 13 minute “twisted psychological short film” Woods (see here).
The big bonus? Unlike their likenesses, all three still look to be getting on like a house fire.
