Five amateur golfers will tee it up at Augusta National Golf Club in April after qualifying for The Masters 2025. But who are they exactly?
Join us as we who the five players are and how they qualified for the biggest and best tournament in professional golf.
Who Are The Five Amateurs Who Qualified For The Masters?
As golf fans begin to get excited about the new PGA Tour season, that means that the first major championship of the year isn’t too far away.
The first major of the years sees the best golfers in the world head to Augusta National for arguably the biggest and best major on the golfing roster. That’s right, The Masters 2025 takes centre stage at Augusta in April, with the full line-up almost confirmed.
Less than 100 players will be competing for the coveted Green Jacket at August National, aiming to become The Masters champion. Amongst the 100 player field, five amateurs will take their place for the very first time.
Whilst an amateur golfer is highly unlikely to win The Masters, all five of the qualifiers will have their sights set on making the cut. Even that would be an achievement, with the best golf betting sites offering prices on which amateurs will indeed play the weekend.
The highest finishing amateur at The Masters will of course land the prestigious Silver Cup, being presented with their trophy in the Butler Cabin alongside the overall Masters champion.
So, who are the five amateurs who will be teeing it up at August National in April alongside the likes of Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy and Jon Rahm?
Join us as we examine who the five amateur qualifiers for The Masters 2025 are, and how exactly they claimed their spot in golf’s biggest tournament.
The Masters 2025 Amateur Qualifiers
Jose Luis Ballester – US Amateur Champion
The first amateur qualifier for The Masters 2025 is Spanish sensation Jose Luis Ballester. Ballester booked his ticket to Augusta by winning the US Amateur at Hazeltine National Golf Club, beating Noah Kent 2up.
Ballester also become the first Spanish amateur in history to lift the prestigious US title. The No.4 ranked world amateur attends Arizona State University, and will also feature at the US Open and Open Championship this year provided he retains his amateur status.
Evan Beck – US Mid-Amateur Champion
Having won the US Mid-Amateur Championship match in emphatic fashion back in September, Evan Beck booked his place at The Masters 2025.
Beck has also qualified for the US Open later this year as a result of his sensational 9&8 success over Bobby Massa at the US Mid-Amateur. Beck is 35-years-old, while the rest of his unpaid golf peers are in or around their early-20s.
Justin Hastings – Latin America Amateur Champion
Having won the 2025 Latin America Amateur Championship by a single stroke, Justin Hasting has qualified for the 2025 Masters. This triumph also means Hasting has booked his place at the 153rd Open Championship as well as the US Open.
The San Diego State University student first played in the LAAC as a 14-year-old and has now officially qualified for the biggest tournament in world golf seven years later.
Noah Kent – US Amateur Runner-Up
Having reached the 2024 US Amateur final, Noah Kent has qualified for The Masters 2025.
Kent defied all odds to qualify, having sat outside the World Amateur Golf Rankings top-200 before reaching the US Amateur’s Championship match on debut. However, the University of Iowa student proved that rankings don’t always mean much.
Kent will be hoping to play with Rory McIlroy at The Masters this year, having picked golf over ice hockey after a chance meeting with the four-time major champion.
Hiroshi Tai – NCAA Div I Men’s Individual Champion
The fifth and final amateur qualifier teeing it up at The Masters 2025 will be Georgia Tech’s Hiroshi Tai.
The young golfer from Singapore triumphed by one stroke at the 2024 NCAA Division 1 Men’s Golf Championship, meaning he booked his place amongst golf’s elite at Augusta this April.
