Met Eireann’s newest weather presenter Bonnie Diamond gave a sparkling forecast on RTE today as she said Friday will be the warmest day of the year so far.
She revealed temperatures in southern parts of the country will peak at a scorching 25C in the shade – but will feel 10C warmer in the direct sunshine.
The Derry girl said: “Friday is potentially going to be the warmest day of the year across the southern part of the country with plenty of sunshine. Temperatures will reach 24C or 25C.”

But despite today’s soaring temperatures and much of Europe in the middle of an early summer heatwave, today’s sizzling conditions are not set to last.
Bonnie revealed the mercury will fall back dramatically at the weekend with thermometer readings unlikely to push beyond 16C.
She added: “It will be cloudy Thursday in the west with showers on and off through the morning.
"But there will be sunny spells and these sunny spells will become more widespread through the day with temperatures reaching 20C to 22C.
“In the north, though, it is a different story. There will be cloud and cooler, showery weather.
“This weather will move southwards by the evening, introducing a much cooler airflow for the weekend.
“The difference in temperatures will see just a maximum of 16C on Saturday and Sunday.”
Before Bonnie’s first weather presentation on RTE last Friday, Met Eireann tweeted its good luck to her and wrote “meet Bonnie, our new presenter”.
RTE released a statement about Bonnie, revealing how she fell in love with the weather as she grew up her family’s farm.
She joined the UK Met Office as a trainee meteorologist in 2014, then joined Met Eireann earlier this year, and is now part of Donnybrook’s weather team.
