Meet adorable Daisy Bateman - our Chronicle Cute Kids winner

Meet the adorable Daisy Bateman, your Chronicle Cute Kids champion for 2022.

With her light blond hair and piercing blue eyes, the adorable three-year-old is officially our bonniest bairn after scooping the highest number of votes. Her proud mum Natalie Ewart said it was the first time she has applied for anything like this.

The 32-year-old from Ebchester said: "This is the first time I have ever done anything like this. Daisy is my only child and it was actually her dad's nana who told us about it. She rang us one day and said Daisy is so cute and there's a cute kids competition.

"Daisy is just adorable, she's my little princess and I just thought: 'Why not give it a go?' We had nothing to lose! I'm absolutely over the moon, it's an honour really for someone to say that your kid is the cutest kid!"

Daisy is currently being assessed for autisim and is non-verbal but still expressed how excited she was to her mum. The adorable little girl is Peppa Pig obsessed and Natalie hopes to treat her with some of the £500 she has been gifted.

Natalie said: "It's massive for us. Daisy absolutely loves Peppa Pig so I'm going to take her to the shop and let her pick out what she wants, probably something Peppa Pig, and I'll put some money away for her. I also want to treat everyone who has helped just to say thank you.

"Even though Daisy can't talk, she understands what you're saying, and when I got the phone call to say that she had won, Daisy could see how excited I was and was so excited. I'm so proud of her."

More than 250 children entered this year's competition and more than 1.2 million votes were received. Miah Georgia Phyllis came in second place and won £300 while Ebony-Mae Harrison bagged £200 after coming in third.
