Three Hunter sports clubs will benefit from overhauled amenities at Medowie as construction on a new changeroom block at Yulong Oval wrapped up late last month and has since been officially opened.

The build included a laundry list of improvements to make the amenities more accessible and inclusive for athletes, including unisex and accessible bathrooms, new changerooms, and a dedicated space for referees and first aid.

Medowie Football Club president Eric Dorn, speaking for one of the three clubs who use Yulong Oval as their home turf, including Port Hunter Touch Football and Medowie Cricket Club, said the build, which began in late 2023, was a welcome sight for growing local sports clubs.

"With these new amenities, we look forward to hosting even larger local and state-wide sporting carnivals," he said.

The build, which also includes a kiosk and storage space, was financed by money from the NSW Government Regional Sport Facility Fund, NSW Club Grant scheme, and Stronger Communities Fund, as well as developer contributions.
