Medical Plane Crashes In Philadelphia 4 Days After American Airline Crash, 6 Feared Dead

A medical plane carrying six passengers — including one child patient — has crashed in Philadelphia quickly after taking off, setting off a blaze that has put multiple houses on fire in the area.

Mayor of Philadelphia, Cherelle Parker, stated in a news conference that vehicles and several houses have been affected by the fire

“As of right now, we have no reports on the number of fatalities,” Parker said.

“Right now we’re asking for prayers for any and everyone who may have been affected.”

Car dashcam video recorded the explosion from a small medical jet that crashed in the area of Roosevelt Boulevard and Cottman Avenue on Friday in Northeast Philadelphia. The plane, a Learjet 55, was set to depart Philadelphia to Springfield, Missouri, from the Northeast Philadelphia Airport. The plane crashed into a neighborhood outside the Roosevelt Mall just moments after leaving the airstrip. Visit the link in our bio for more on this breaking story.

The Medevac Learjet 55 crashed near an outdoor shopping centre and busy intersection, a few seconds after taking off at around 6:30pm Eastern Standard Time (EST).

The plane was carrying a child who was being treated for a life-threatening illness in the US city from Mexico, according to Jet Rescue Air Ambulance spokesperson Shai Gold.

All passengers, which included the child’s mother, were from Mexico, with the flight preparing to make one stop-off in Missouri before heading home.

Jet Rescue Air Ambulance did not confirm if there were any survivors.

US President Donald Trump has responded on social media to the crash, saying: “So sad to see the plane go down in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania,” and states that first responders are “doing a great job”.

“Our people are totally engaged.”

Residents near the area have been sharing the crash and its aftermath on social media, with one describing the dramatic crash as being “like a movie”.

This crash comes only days after an American Airlines jet collided with a Black Hawk US Army helicopter on Wednesday night in Washington DC.

On board were 67 passengers, all of whom perished, making it one of the deadliest air disasters on US soil since 9/11.
