He recalled the height of its scary stage saying: “I remember playing the Glasgow Apollo. If you fell off the stage you’d still be falling.

“I couldn’t believe how high it was and it was a raked stage. If people don’t know what that means, it was on a slant

“I have all these little awards on the top of my bookshelf from the Apollo, about five of them for the most ticket sales in its history.”

During a performance of Bat Out of Hell at his gig in Edinburgh's Playhouse in 1982, Meat Loaf got a nosebleed as he sang a high note. He returned to the stage throwing out beers to the audience.

The singer also played Aberdeen's Capitol where one person recalled him shouting at people for still being in their seats after he had instructed the audience to stand up and dance. His last Scots gig was at Glasgow's SECC in April 2013.

The star revealed that his second wife Deborah Gillespie had Scottish ancestry, and they even called their West Highland terriers Angus and McKenna.

On social media lots of fans had fond memories of attending a Meat Loaf gig, remembering how he sweated all over them as he rocked out.

More recently Lewis Capaldi revealed he wanted Meatloaf to play him in a biopic.

He said “No prostheses, no CGI – I want him to look like Meat Loaf. I think he’s a handsome man.”

He later admitted: "I get told I look like Meat Loaf.

“Look, nothing wrong with Meat Loaf at all. Love him so much but he is getting on now.”

Other recalled going to seeing the legend in Glasgow following his heart attack with one person saying: "He came on stage in a hospital bed with lights beaming down on him and nurses around him was amazing."
