Meat Loaf once tried to push Prince Andrew into a moat because of Fergie

The world is mourning the loss of legendary musician and actor Meat Loaf.

The star, real name Marvin Lee Aday, died aged 74 with his wife Deborah Gillespie by his side on Thursday night.

American news outlets are reporting that the icon passed away after becoming "seriously ill" with Covid-19.

The singer was known for hit songs including Bat Out of Hell and I'd Do Anything for Love (But I Won't Do That) as well as performances in movies like Fight Club and Wayne's World.

Fans across the globe have been reminiscing about Meat Loaf memories - including here in Scotland.

But it's an incident involving the Royal Family which the Mirror is reporting on, and the time Meat Loaf tried to push Prince Andrew into a moat.

The Mirror reports that the rockers was taking part in the one-off British charity event, It's a Royal Knockout in 1987.

The show was made of teams of celebrities and royals competing to win cash for different causes.

Meat Loaf was in the Duchess of York's team and he claims Sarah Ferguson paid him a lot of "attention".

Speaking to The Guardian, he shared how this caused issues with Prince Andrew as he was a little 'jealous'.

"It was great fun. I had a great time," he recalled.

"Fergie wasn't exactly flirting with me, but she was paying attention to me, and I think Andrew got a little - I could be wrong, I'm just reading into this - I think he got a little jealous...

"Anyway, he tried to push me in the water. He tried to push me in the moat.

"So I turned around and I grabbed him and he goes, 'You can't touch me. I'm royal.' I said, 'well you try to push me in the moat, Jack, I don't give a s**t who you are, you're goin' in the moat.'"

During the interview Meat Loaf also added that he thought the Queen "hates" him, but didn't elaborate as to why.
