Max Verstappen secured his fourth world title in Las Vegas, but the battle for Formula 1's lucrative constructors' championship is heating up in Qatar this week. The championship, worth around $140 million to the winner, is still up for grabs with McLaren, Ferrari, and Red Bull vying for the top spot.

This weekend in Qatar, a sprint race on Saturday offers teams the chance to earn extra points, with a maximum of 59 points available over the entire weekend. McLaren currently leads the standings by 24 points over Ferrari, with Red Bull trailing by 29 points. McLaren could clinch its first constructors' crown since 1998 this Sunday, provided they have a flawless performance or if Ferrari encounters setbacks.

In the sprint race qualifying, McLaren's Lando Norris claimed pole position, narrowly beating out George Russell from Mercedes. Norris' teammate Oscar Piastri secured the third spot, with the Ferraris of Carlos Sainz Jr. and Charles Leclerc following closely behind. Verstappen qualified in sixth place.

McLaren's focus has shifted to the constructors' championship after Norris' drivers' title challenge ended in Las Vegas. Norris dismissed claims from Verstappen about winning the title in a McLaren and emphasized the importance of teamwork in securing the constructors' championship.

Contributions from Piastri have been crucial to McLaren's success, while Ferrari's Leclerc and Sainz have been strong contenders throughout the season. Red Bull's Sergio Perez, who has yet to secure a race win this year, has faced challenges fitting into the title-winning Red Bull car.

Last year's race in Qatar saw drivers struggle with extreme heat and humidity, prompting concerns from the FIA about their health and safety. New driver cooling kits have been approved for hot races, but won't be available until next year. Fortunately, milder weather is forecasted for this year's race in Qatar, providing relief to drivers.

As the competition intensifies in Qatar, teams are gearing up for a thrilling showdown to claim the coveted constructors' championship title.
