McDonald's has announced that hundreds of its restaurants across the country will be closed to mark the funeral for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II next week.
The global fast-food giant recently took to social media to confirm that all of its branches will be closing doors until 5pm on Monday, September 19, as a mark of respect for the Queen.
The golden arches chain has said it will be closed for a few hours on the day of the Queen's funeral to allow everyone at McDonald's to pay their respects to the late monarch.
Britain's longest reigning monarch passed away peacefully at Balmoral Castle, Aberdeenshire, last week and her funeral next week has been declared as a bank holiday.
Taking to Facebook, McDonald's wrote: "All of our UK restaurants will be closed on Monday until 5pm, to allow everyone at McDonald’s to pay their respects to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
"Operating hours and services may vary after 5pm, so please check our app before travelling."
They join a whole host of big-name supermarkets and retailers who have also announced store closures for state funeral next week. Aldi, Lidl, Poundland, Primark, Dunelm and B&Q have all recently announced that they will be closing all stores to allow staff members and customers to mourn the passing of the Queen.
Major supermarket chains such as Asda, Tesco, Morrisons and Sainsbury's have also announced a change in operating hours to mark the Queen's funeral which has now been declared as a national bank holiday.
