McDonald's says it is "shocked and appalled" after a gang of around 50 youths piled into the restaurant and began stealing food and drink. The group of teenagers went into the Clumber Street eatery, in Nottingham city centre, at around 9pm on Sunday, August 21.
Police said around seven people jumped over the counter and started stealing food that was being prepared in the kitchen. They also helped themselves to soft drinks.
Police confirmed members of the group filmed what happened. A video, which appeared to show the incident, had surfaced on social media. Around 20 of the group were said to have stayed in the restaurant and were threatening and abusive towards staff.

McDonald's has since responded, saying that incidents of this nature have "no place in our restaurants". A spokesperson for McDonald's said: “We’re aware of an incident that took place at our Clumber Street restaurant on Sunday night. We were shocked and appalled by the incident which has absolutely no place in our restaurants. The incident was reported to the police who attended the restaurant. We will continue to support the police with any further investigations."
