McDonald's removes staple breakfast item from menu leaving customers 'gutted'

McDonald's has announced the removal of a couple of its staple breakfast items which has left some customers disappointed.

The fast-food giant will be removing bagels and Breakfast Wraps from the breakfast menu after trialling a 'separation period' of the popular items.

While announcing the tragic farewell of the breakfast items, McDonald's informed customers that they can grab a McMuffin for 99p.

The fast-food chain said on a social media post: "It is with love and deep respect for one another that we announce that we are parting ways with Breakfast Bagels & Breakfast Wraps.

"Despite speculation and following a trial separation period, Breakfast Bagels & Breakfast Wraps will not be returning to the menu. We adore each other deeply but our love for the iconic McMudding was simply too hard to ignore.

"We want our fans to know this is a mutual decision, to the extent that a bagel can make its own decision.

"Thank you to everyone who has supported our union. As for the rumours that there will be a new breakfast bae on the scene later this year...no comment."

The removal of the Breakfast Bagels and Breakfast Wraps has left some fans in tears, with one person replying to the post: "Ah the best item removed. Gutted. That's maccys off my breakfast list."

Another user commented: "Was gutted when you got rid of the big breakfast off the menu now you have removed the bagels you now have the worse option available with the muffin it's not a patch on the bagels and wraps!"

One other user said: "The bagels were the only reason I went there for breakfast."

McDonald's is yet to announce whether there is any chance the beloved Bagels and Breakfast Wraps will be returning anytime soon, one can only hope.
