McDonald’s (MCD) -) is a leader in the fast-food burger industry and as the leader, it always has to be a step ahead. McDonald’s usually keeps its core menu pretty tight. It will periodically bring back some hot items that sell well like the McRib and the Shamrock Shake.
The burger chain has branched out a bit trying something new by offering higher end coffees with different flavors and bakery snack items through the McCafé line. The coffee is better than before, but still not as good as hitting up a Starbucks (SBUX) -). The chain is now pulling back from its offering of coffee house snacks of the blueberry muffin, apple fritter and cinnamon roll, according to Business Insider, but it sounds like the flavored coffees have survived the McCafé ax.
McDonald’s may try to mix up the menu a little but where the biggest changes usually come on a regular basis is with Happy Meal Toys. McDonald’s has struck some gold with some of its toy deals, making them highly sought after collector items.
The McDonald’s deal with Pokémon cards helped bring more life to the Pokémon collectors by creating a whole new age group who now want to get the cards, collect and trade them.
Getting the Happy Meal Deal to get a series of toys into kids’ happy little hands is like a dream come true for a lot of companies. It’s not just the kids that are interested in the Happy Meal toys either, adults want them too, hence McDonald's introducing the "Adult Happy Meal."
McDonalds Collectors Rejoice
McDonald’s is marrying its customers who love to collect the Happy Meal toys and good old fashion nostalgia with its latest toy deal. While the rest of us are enjoying the summer, McDonald’s is thinking ahead, far ahead when it comes to its Happy Meal toy deals.
Funko (FNKO) -) toys are coming back to McDonalds filled with holiday spirit as it is sending its Halloween spirit through chicken nuggets. The Funko collection is four nuggets dressed to impress for the spooky season, according to Snackolator on Instagram.
McBoo McNugget is a Funko Chicken McNugget dressed as a ghost, who has a little spooky kitty side kick. Mummy McNugget is a Funko Chicken McNugget wrapped up as, yep you guested it a mummy, and has a big black spider as a side kick.
Two more Funko Chicken McNuggets are dressed for Halloween, the Vampire McNugget, complete with bat, and the Witch McNugget.
While the spooky crew is exciting to see coming, there’s also some excitement about the Holiday Grimace, a Funko Grimace wearing red and white for Christmas.

McDonald’s Toy Deals to Delight
The Happy Meal toys bring joy to the kids while already getting the treat of going to McDonald’s, and if it's not to the kids delight, there is also delight for collectors. The Happy Meal toy collection has quite a fanbase.
Some of these tiny toys create a huge demand for collectors. Just recently, the McDonald’s “Cactus Buddy” from the Adult Happy Meal toy sold on Ebay for a whopping $1,350 on April 25, 2023. Later a Grimace and a Birdie each sold for $999 in May.
Luckily this latest Happy Meal toy collection is only four toys, rather than 101 when it was Disney's "101 Dalmatians," that makes completing the collection that much easier! Although that collection sold for $400 on Ebay in June.
Two different 1990’s Beanie Babies collections from McDonald’s recently for $250 on Ebay, so it would sound like a respectable return on a toy that came free in a kid’s meal. The time, energy and ability to collect them is what probably stops most people from making this kind of investment.
