The year of 2022 is nearly at an end and many will be staying up this weekend to welcome in the New Year at midnight.
Whether you need a late-night Big Mac to perk you up for a few more hours of partying, or you need a breakfast McMuffin to get you through the morning after, you may need to know McDonald’s opening hours this weekend.
Here's everything you may need to know this New Year’s weekend, including the store's typical hours and whether you should check with your local franchise before heading out.

Is McDonald’s open on New Year’s Eve?
Yes, McDonald's will be opening its doors to customers on New Year’s Eve, but many branches of the fast food chain will be operating with adjusted opening hours.
On New Year’s Eve, many of the 24-hour McDonald’s sites will be open from midnight on December 31 right up until either 7pm or 8pm that evening.
McDonald's stand-alone sites, usually located on highstreets, look to be operating with the same closing hours as their 24-hour counterparts.
McDonald's branches that are located inside shopping centres and supermarkets will most likely close earlier on New Year’s Eve as the shops will be shutting earlier.
Our research showed the majority of these sites look to be closing at around 5pm.
However, you will need to be aware that each branch of McDonald's is a franchise which can dictate its own hours of operation so some sites may differ.
McDonald’s says the decision is down to the franchise owner and takes into consideration “the needs of the local community and crew”
Is McDonald’s open on New Year’s Day?
Once again, the answer is yes, the majority of McDonald's sites will be opening their doors on New Year’s Day but with adjusted hours.
Many sites will be opening a little later than their normal hours which allows their staff to have a little extra time in bed if they have brought in the New Year.
Once again the hours will vary depending on the branch many in London sites will open as early as 7am or 8am on New Year’s Day, or even earlier in some cases.
In other parts of the country, including Wales and Northern Ireland, your local may open its doors between 9am and as late as 11am.
Closing times will also differ from one branch to the next, the majority of the 24-hour sites in our research closed their doors between 7pm and 11pm.
Occasional branches stayed open until midnight.
From January 2, which is a Bank Holiday, some McDonald's will be reverting back to their normal hours once again.
However, some have reported closing their doors an hour or two earlier than normal.
