McDonald's new menu items are available now - and there's one you simply must try

It's been a big week for McDonald's fans, with the loss of the iconic Big Tasty, followed by the addition of not just one but six new items on the menu.

These new items include McDonald's hottest burger to date, the McSpicy, as well as the Grand Big Mac, the Grand Big Mac with bacon, Garlic Cheese Bites and two Flake McFlurries (chocolate and raspberry).

Many people will be keen to nip down to their nearest branch to get their hands on the new food, but if you can't make up your mind what to try, I might be able to help.

I've been lucky enough to sample these items before and there's one that's a must-try in my opinion.

Having tried the McSpicy when it was first released back in July 2021, it's safe to say I'm a big fan.

The burger lives up to its name and the heat hits you almost immediately. After a couple of mouthfuls, I was reaching for the bottle of milk I'd been given to pair with the burger.

Heat aside, I really enjoyed the taste, it was a generous-sized piece of chicken with a nice crispy coating that gave a good crunch when bitten into and there was just the right amount of mayo and lettuce inside, so the spicy flavour was what captured the taste buds, it wasn't overwhelmed with other fillings.

The McSpicy was only sold for six weeks initially, so I'd say if you didn't manage to buy one last time, this is definitely a must-try now - even if it's just to see if you can handle the heat.

I wasn't a big fan of the Grand Big Mac (Daily Mirror)

The Grand Big Mac (with or without bacon) is an absolute beast of a burger stacked high with two 100% beef patties, a slice of cheese, lettuce, onion, pickles and Big Mac sauce.

I was so excited to try the burger as it had been so heavily praised on social media, with McDonald's fans eagerly awaiting its return.

Unfortunately, it didn't live up to the hype for me.

My review of both Grand Big Macs said: "The patties themselves were very thin and there's so much else going on inside each burger that the taste of the meat gets lost and is overwhelmed by onion (which there was far too much of) and Big Mac sauce.

"I was also disappointed that the Grand Big Macs only come with one slice of cheese on the bottom half of the burger, meaning the top patty was left rather dry as it only had a smidge of sauce.

"In summary: Less onion and more cheese, please!"

The Flake McFlurries are both tasty - reminding me of my childhood days, with the Rasberry one especially tasting like something my 10-year-old self would have loved, with a very artificially sweet flavour.

But at the end of the day, it's chocolate and ice cream - so what's not to love?!

The final new menu item is garlic cheese bites, which we haven't actually tried yet at The Mirror, so the verdict is out on these, but we do have to admit they sound very tempting...
