McDonald's has started a huge recruitment drive to hire more people over the age of 50 in a bid to combat age bias.
The fast-food giant has joined other companies across the UK who have launched recruitment campaigns to entice older workers back into jobs, the Telegraph reports. It is targeting the over-50 demographic by adverts grey-haired workers enjoying their role at McDonald's with the tagline of "isn't the retiring type".
A spokesman for McDonald's told the Telegraph that the company was "exceptionally proud of our inclusive and diverse workforce, and our latest recruitment campaign reflects that".
They added that older workers were "an integral part" of their restaurant teams.
The Office for National Statistics found that there were 180,000 fewer over 50s in work late last year in comparison to before the coronavirus pandemic.
Last September, 3.5 million 50-64-year-olds were "economically inactive", while 362,000 over 50s were unemployed.
