McDonald's Monopoly is back in all UK restaurants. However, this year only those aged 18 and over will be permitted to win any prizes thanks to a new age limit.
The rule change means that customers under the age of 18 won’t be able to win any of the McDonalds Monopoly prizes including free food items and discounts, a McDonald’s spokesperson confirmed. In previous years anyone 16 or over was allowed to play McDonald's Monopoly.
This is likely to cause disappointment to young customers who peel off the McDonald's Monopoly stickers to find they’ve ‘won’ a free McFlurry that they’re unable to claim. This year’s prizes also include 21 MINI Electric Cars, 80 TUI holidays, and five prizes of 100K cash.

McDonald’s Monopoly will be open to play for a six-week period. It starts on September 7 and runs until October 18. This year the competition is offering more cash prizes than previously and tens of millions of free food items.
There will be over 6.5million Big Mac or Big Flavour Wraps to win. Also on offer are 9.8million 6 Chicken McNuggets or Double Cheeseburgers, and 1.1million free McFlurrys.
McDonald's Monopoly has been running annually for over 15 years, with a break in 2020 due to the pandemic. This is believed to be the first time all under 18s have been restricted from winning all prizes.
As usual the Monopoly stickers will be attached to certain McDonald’s food and drink items. This includes cold drinks, fries, McFlurry, Big Tasty, McPlant, and many more.
