With the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee this weekend, McDonald’s has made some big changes to their menu, packaging and tagline to celebrate. And the first you might notice will be on their radio and TV ads.
McDonald’s has teamed up with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra to re-create its iconic jingle and make it fit for a queen, re-recording the iconic ‘Five Note String’ or the ‘ba da ba ba ba’ you hear at the end of their adverts.
A 35-strong ensemble featuring brass, strings, percussion, and woodwind recorded a regal version of the brand’s iconic sound, which will replace the original in the brand’s TV and radio ads over the course of the Jubilee weekend, switching the tagline to “one’s lovin’ it”.

But that’s not all, McDonald’s is also giving customers the chance to dine like a royal over the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee weekend. The brand has reimagined the Big Mac, fries and milkshake packaging that customers know and love as an elegant china set, adding Platinum Jubilee Pageant detailing to mark the occasion.
There are 70 of the limited-edition sets up for grabs and all McDonald’s fans have to do to be in with a chance of winning is to enter the competition via the McDonald’s App between May 31 and June 6, with the lucky winners being crowned on June 8.
The final part of the Jubilee celebrations will see McDonald’s change the name of an iconic burger for the duration of the weekend. On Thursday, June 2 and Friday, June 3, the famous Quarter Pounder with Cheese will become the ‘Royale with Cheese’, paying homage to the infamous scene from Pulp Fiction and giving the burger a royal makeover.
The ‘Royale with Cheese’ will be available for just 99p on the McDonald’s App, giving customers a huge £2.60 saving to kick off a weekend of celebrations.
If you can’t wait that long, the fast food restaurant is offering big savings on two menu items this McDonald’s Monday (May 30), exclusively via the McDonald’s App. Customers can head down to their local McDonald’s for breakfast and pick up a Double McMuffin of their choice for just £1.79. Whether you’re a sausage fan or big on bacon, shoppers can save around £1.30 on their McMuffin before 11am.
If you’d rather have a dinner or tea-time pick-me-up, you can tuck into a Triple Cheeseburger, which has been slashed to 99p for today only. From 11am, customers can grab the three-patty burger, which features onions, pickles, ketchup, mustard and cheese in a soft toasted bun, also saving £1.30.
