McDonald's in Falkirk bans under-16s amid anti-social behaviour

A McDonald's in Falkirk has banned under 16s from its restaurant after 6pm amid "serious anti-social behaviour".

It means anyone under the age of 16, unless accompanied by an adult, won't be allowed to enter the fast food chain in Camelon at night time.

Bosses claim staff there have been both verbally and physically assaulted by youths.

They've now taken the decision to crackdown on the behaviour and put restrictions in place.

A notice has been places on the restaurants front door, which reads: "This action has been taken as a direct response to on-going behavioural problems associated with groups of teenagers under 16 years old.

"We will work with the Police to identify the individuals responsible and sincerely hope to revoke these measures very soon.

"If you need to make contact, please email the restaurant on: 01597@uk.mcd.com."

Police are said to be looking into the incidents.

Inspector Andy Tough of the Forth Valley division said: "Officers are continuing to carry out enquiries following reports of anti-social behaviour at a business premises in Camelon.

"We are committed to tackling this type of behaviour and will provide additional patrols in the area alongside engaging with staff and management to ensure the safety of our community.

"I would ask if you have any information or have any concerns surrounding anti-social behaviour in the area to come forward and speak to police."

Falkirk West MSP, Michael Matheson, said: "Anti-social behaviour is a real concern to communities and businesses, and I support action taken by Falkirk Council and Police Scotland to make our communities safer and to support businesses throughout the Falkirk district.

"It is sad that a minority that cause anti-social behaviour force this action to be taken.

"Our communities and businesses should be able to live without having to face anti-social behaviour."
