McDonald's food and drink stolen by 'gang of 50 youths' who jumped counter and threatened staff

A 'gang of 50 youths' piled into a city centre fast food restaurant in England over the weekend, stealing hoards of food and drink from behind the counter while threatening staff.

The group of teens jumped over the counter in the McDonald's on Clumber Street in Nottingham and stole the goods at around 9pm on Sunday, August 21.

Cops said around seven people were involved in the shocking incident at the eatery as they started stealing food that was being prepared by hardworking staff in the kitchen, reports NottinghamshireLive.

They also helped themselves to soft drinks. Police said members of the group captured what happened on video, with the footage later emerging on social media.

Around 20 of the yobs were believed to have stayed in the chain and were threatening and abusive towards workers. A spokesperson for Nottinghamshire Police said the incident was "completely unacceptable".

They said: "We are treating this incident very seriously. This is a commercial burglary as the group forced their way behind the counter of a business and stole food and soft drinks."

Officers also said the same group were reportedly congregating outside the Milton Street McDonald’s at around 10pm, but nothing was taken.

The group are believed to be between 14 to 16 years old and dressed in tracksuit bottoms, hats and caps. Police attended both McDonald's stores but the group had disappeared by the time officers had arrived.

"No arrests have been made yet, but we will be working with the Clumber Street McDonald’s and carrying out CCTV inquiries to find those responsible,” continued the police spokesperson.

McDonald's has been approached for comment.
