McDonald's fans vow to 'boycott' chain as it removes two breakfast favourites from menu

Fans of McDonald's have been left 'heartbroken' and vowing to 'boycott' the chain after an announcement was shared on social media this morning.

The fast-food giants revealed in a post on Instagram that they had removed two popular breakfast items from their menu - for good.

Those who love bagels and breakfast wraps will be saddened to hear they are no more.

Writing in the style of a celebrity break-up announcement, the post read: "It is with love and deep respect for one another that we announce that we are parting ways with Breakfast Bagels & Breakfast Wraps.

"Despite speculation and following a trial separation period, Breakfast Bagels and Breakfast Wraps will not be returning to the menu. We adore each other deeply but our love for the iconic McMuffin was simply too hard to ignore."

The post continues: "We want our fans to know this is a mutual decision, to the extent that a bagel can make its own decision.

"Thank you to everyone who has supported our union. As for the rumours that there will be a new breakfast bae on the scene later this year... no comment.

"But it's now time to say, 'that's a wayp'. And bagel.

"And that the McMuffin is 99p today."

Hundreds of people have commented on the post since it was set live - with many saying they were "fuming" over the news.

One person said: "I didn't even get to say a proper goodbye!"

Another wrote: "The bagels were the best."

A third replied: "Broken my heart."

"Boycott now," proclaimed someone else.

A different user added: "Unfollowed. So disappointed."

While a sixth shared: "Cheers. 8am on a Monday morning. The week's ruined and the kids are crying. Nice one."

"Worst Monday ever," exclaimed a seventh.
