McDonald's has been on the receiving end of criticism from fans who have slammed their decision to axe one of their most popular items- the Chicken Legend.
The global fast-food chain has announced a major shake-up to its menu starting from this week, which includes replacing the fan-favourite burger for five new items.
It comes after McDonald's reintroduced their Chicken Legend burger onto menus back in January this year following strong demand from customers who were eager to see its return.
But, it looks like it is the end of the road once again for the order, as the food chain has confirmed that it will be axing all versions of the burger from Wednesday, October 19. It means that the cool ranch, BBQ and hot and spicy mayo flavours will all be gone from the menu.
And it looks like the decision to get rid of the chicken burger once again has not gone down well with devoted fans, as many flocked to Twitter to say it has left them "devastated" and "crying".
"First bagels, and now the Chicken Legend. I'm devastated.", fumed one customer.
"Just cried because McDonald's is getting rid of the Chicken Legend", said another Twitter user.
"Just found out McDonald’s is removing chicken legend off their menu. I’m going to need a few days to process this", added a third.
"As iffffff they're removing chicken legends from maccies menu, fuuuuumin", said a fourth.
The fast-food chain has confirmed that the Chicken Legend removal is part of a new menu shake-up that will see five new treats for fans to enjoy, reports The Sun.
And the chicken burger is not the only item to have been removed, as the Big Tasty, Spicy McNuggets, Mozzarella Dippers, Twix, and Mars McFlurry will all be axed from Wednesday as well.
In their place will be a range of brand new and returning items - including mini potato waffles, BBQ Bacon Stack, Nacho Cheese Wedges and Twirl McFlurry.
All items will be available in branches nationwide from October 19 - although, the Nacho Cheese Wedges will be arriving slightly later from Wednesday, October 26.
The new menu also brings good news for chicken burger fans reeling from the loss of the Chicken Legend, as it will also include the chain's first permanent chicken burger in 15 years - the McCrispy.
Described as "game-changing", the new chicken burger made with a 100% crispy chicken breast marinated in black pepper and cayenne. The burger is then topped with classic McDonald's mayonnaise with an extra dose of cracked black pepper, and served in a 4” artisan glazed bun with a sweet nutty toasted flavour.
McDonald's new menu will arrive in stores nationwide from Wednesday, October 19.
