McDonald's explains why breakfast is only served until 11am

McDonald’s might be best known for its burgers and fries, but its breakfasts are also a firm favourite with fast food lovers.

Maccies fans love their McMuffins, hash browns and pancakes, but those who enjoy the fast food giant's wide range of morning foods were dealt a blow last month, when two items were removed for good.

The breakfast wrap and breakfast bagel were officially taken off the McDonald’s menu in January.

McDonald’s shared the sad news on a Facebook post which said: “It is with love and deep respect for one another that we announce that we are parting ways with the breakfast bagels & breakfast wraps.

“Despite speculation and following a trial separation period, breakfast bagels & breakfast wraps will not be returning to the menu.

“We adore each other deeply but our love for the iconic McMuffin was simply too hard to ignore.”

With many foodies partial to the occasional McDonald's breakfast, many wish they could be purchased after 11am.

McDonald's has explained why this is not possible - and also why people can't order burgers at breakfast time.

Responding to customer queries on its website, the global food chain said: "Items on our breakfast menu are cooked slightly differently and at a different temperature from items on our main menu.

"This means we don't have enough space in our kitchens to accommodate the cooking and preparation of our breakfast and main menus at the same time.

"The 11am cut off enables us to accommodate our breakfast lovers, whilst allowing the customers who enjoy our main menu to get their food before 11:30am."

When asked why burgers and other "all day" items are not served until 11am, it said: "Unfortunately, we don't have enough space in our kitchens to accommodate the cooking and preparation of our breakfast and main menus at the same time."
