McDonald's expands money-saving scheme offering menu favourites for just £1.99

McDonald's customers can now get more of their menu favourites for less after big changes were made to a nifty money-saving survey scheme.

The fast food giant has a feedback service called Food for Thoughts, which invites diners to share their thoughts on their latest McDonald's experience in exchange for a voucher giving them money off their next order. All you need to participate is a McDonald's receipt from within the last 60 days, which has a 12-digit code at the top that you can enter into the Food for Thoughts website.

Previously you could only get a voucher entitling you to a Big Mac, Vegetable Deluxe or Filet-o-Fish with either medium fries or a side salad for £1.99 in return for completing the survey, The Mirror reports. But as of April 1, the scheme has been expanded to include even more McDonald's bestsellers.

Customers who fill out a survey can now also get six Chicken McNuggets, a McChicken Sandwich, a Quarter Pounder with Cheese, or a McPlant (which has replaced the Vegetable Deluxe), alongside either medium fries or a side salad for £1.99. The deal results in savings of between £3.49 and £4.09 per meal, compared to if you bought the items at full price.

McDonald's recently shook up its menu for April, leaving fans of the Chicken Big Mac and Mozzarella Dippers rejoicing as the popular items made a comeback. The Mighty McMuffin also returned, as well as the Cadbury Creme Egg McFlurry and the Cadbury Caramel Egg McFlurry, while a brand new addition to the menu came in the form of the Steakhouse Stack with two beef patties, cheese, crispy onions, red onions and lettuce topped with peppercorn sauce in a toasted bun.

But you might need those survey vouchers now more than ever, as the fast food chain has hiked prices twice in recent months. McDonald's announced in March that its black and white coffees would be going up by 20p, with prices varying across restaurants, after confirming in February that five popular menu items including the Mayo Chicken, Triple Cheeseburger and Medium Fizzy Drink would also be increasing in price.

A McDonald's spokesperson said of the price hikes: "We carefully review and adjust our prices to ensure that while some prices may change, we maintain great value and quality across our menu. At the same time, we continue to work hard on how we can provide our customers value where it matters most, from personalised offers and rewards through the MyMcDonald’s Rewards scheme, to promotions such as our newly launched 'peel to win' game, Winning Sips."

Winning Sips sees stickers included on McDonald's medium and large soft drinks, similar to the chain's hugely popular Monopoly game which is set to return later this year. Simply peel off your sticker to see if you've won, or head to the McDonald's app for a chance to play and be in with a chance of winning prizes such as menu favourites, official merchandise, or even £10,000 in cash.
