McDonald's customer finds 'chip with legs but still scranned it' on late night fast food trip

A 22-year-old has gone viral online after sharing the weird moment he bought fries from McDonald’s and found himself faced with a ‘chip with legs’.

Jacob Watson, from Blackpool, posted the video on TikTok after visiting the McDonald's on Rigby Road, Blackpool, with some friends last month. The clip has now received more than 200,000 views, with 15,000 likes and hundreds of comments.

Jacob, who is currently in Bulgaria working as a rep, said 'at least' 10 people have stopped him to ask about the chip since. While he might be known as the 'chip man', he says he'd rather be known as 'the lady killer'.

"Basically I thought, you know what I'm going to go McDonald's,” he told LancsLive. “Picked my mate up, went for some late scran, as you do you get hungry sometimes. I think I got three double cheeseburgers, chips.

"Obviously with my mate and his sister in the back, we got massive scran. We forgot to put two portions of chips, obviously I'm from Blackpool, I like my chips. I park up, go back in, tell them they didn't give me the two portions of chips.

"They give them me, I come out, get back in the car. I go to take a bite of my chip and a second chips falls out and I think, what the f*** is that?"

"It had legs," Jacob added. "It's dead unusual. You don't really get that much."

Jacob quickly recorded the mishap and shared it to TikTok. At the time of writing, Jacob's video has 238,000 views with comments from viewers joking "Blackpool for ya".

Jacob continued: "I still scranned it though, don't get me wrong. When I was in town the week after before coming out to Bulgaria, people were asking me about the chip. I must have told about 10 people since I posted it."

On what it's like to be known as Blackpool's Chip Man, Jacob joked: "I'd rather be known as the lady killer."

A McDonald's spokesperson said: "Food quality is of the utmost importance to us. Our famous McDonald’s Fries are cut from whole potatoes, which means from time to time our fries may include slight imperfections. Our suppliers carry out rigorous quality control procedures to spot and remove any fries that do not meet our standard before they reach the restaurant.

"We are sorry that this has not been picked up on this occasion. We would encourage the customer to contact our customer services team directly to help find a resolution.”
