McDonald's bosses want to open a new branch in Stockport suburb

McDonald's bosses have revealed the plans for a new restaurant in a Stockport suburb.

It would bring around 120 jobs to the area, they say. They've earmarked a site at the Stanley Retail Park, just off the Wilmslow-Handforth Bypass, in Cheadle Hulme.

The proposals are subject to town hall bosses giving planning permission. Planning papers say the branch would have 57 parking spaces for customers, including 19 from the B&Q store next door.

There will be disabled bays; motorcycle spaces; electric vehicle charging points; and spaces for cyclists.

Trees will be planted and recycling and waste waste facilities will be provided.

McDonald's chiefs say they will be 'sensitive' neighbour and have committed to staff carrying out daily litter picks and putting 'sensitive' lighting on billboards.

The popular fast food chain predicts it will hand over £60,000 in business rates each year to the council and provide 100 to 120 part time and full time jobs.

Papers read: "The creation of a new restaurant would also deliver a range of benefits, including significant investment into the local economy and the creation of approximately 120 new jobs, in a range of full- and part-time positions.

"We recognise that whilst the site is part of a wider commercial area, there are residential properties nearby. We take our responsibility to our neighbours very seriously and have embedded a range of measures in our emerging proposals to ensure local residents are not adversely impacted by the scheme."
