McDonald’s Big Mac changes: classic burger gets upgrades with sachets of sauce available

McDonald’s has announced it will make “tasty improvements” to the Big Mac as part of a menu change up, while the taste of the burger may soon be available in sauce form.

However, British fans will need to take a very long journey to experience the changes with the business only currently planning to bring the changes to US restaurants.

But if this is a taste of things to come in the future, it might be a mouth watering prospect, with McDonald’s pledging to top and tail the Big Mac with “softer, pillowy buns”. The new style bread will sandwich more melted cheese while onions will be cooked into the patties for a “juicier, caramelised flavour”.

The classic cheeseburger, double cheeseburger and hamburger will also benefit from the changes, McDonald’s has said.

Also, it will soon be possible for stateside customers to pick up a sachet of the Big Mac sauce should you want to liven up your fries. It has been reported in the Metro that the novelty dip will only be on offer for a short time and can only be ordered via the McDonald’s app.

Like the burger changes, there are no plans for the UK to have the sauce any time soon. However, in a 2012 video that is no longer available on YouTube, sauce can be seen being made by mixing mayonnaise, sweet pickle relish, yellow mustard, white wine vinegar, garlic powder, onion powder and paprika.

Heavy users of McDonald’s might have noticed the Big Mac occasionally being available in the outlets in a squirt bottle - but up until now it has not been in a sachet.

A company executive said in a press statement that the US changes were part of “thinking about ways to bring even more of that iconic McDonald’s taste to fans”.
