McDonald's is shaking up its menu for 2023, and while there is good news for vegans, some customers may lose their favourite items.
In 2021, McDonald's launched its first plant-based burger option. The McPlant comes with a Beyond Meat patty layered with vegan cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickles, onions, mustard and ketchup all put together in the classic sesame bun.
The McPlant has been a popular addition to the McDonald's menu, so much so, the fast-food chain has announced a Double McPlant for January 2023. The Double McPlant will cost around £4.89 - or £6.49 if you want to make it a meal.

Bringing double the flavour, the Double McPlant features two Beyond Meat patties, a vegan sesame bun, mustard, ketchup, the ultimate vegan sandwich sauce, fresh onion, pickles, lettuce, tomato and of course, vegan cheese.
The new burger is vegan-certified and cooked separately from other McDonald’s burgers and sandwiches, using dedicated utensils.
Further menu changes will see six popular items axed. These are:
- Big Tasty
- Big Tasty with Bacon
- Cheese Melt Dippers
- Cheese Melt Dippers Sharebox
- Celebrations McFlurry
- Festive Pie
The new menu will come into force on January 4, so if you're keen to get your hands on one of the six menu items you don't have long left to do so.
