McDonald's accused of 'ruining 2022' after it axes two popular menu items

McDonald's fans have been left distraught after it was announced that they would be axing two popular items from their menu permanently.

The fast-food chain recently confirmed the sad news for fans of the breakfast bagel and wraps in a social media post which announced they were "parting ways" with the popular breakfast items.

It comes after the golden arches temporarily removed the savoury snacks from their menus at the beginning of the pandemic, but have now decided to make it permanent.

In a statement shared to their official Facebook account, the company said: "It is with love and deep respect for one another that we announce that we are parting ways with Breakfast Wraps & Breakfast Bagels.

"Despite speculation and following a trial separation period, breakfast bagels and breakfast wraps will not be returning to the menu."

The announcement has come as a crushing blow to fans of the items who said that they were the "best items on the menu" and that they would be "shopping at Greggs from now on."

Fans flocked to voice their disappointment at the decision.

One user commented: "I’m not saying this is Brexit’s fault … but Brexit."

Another distraught user commented: "2022, you've ruined the whole year Mcdonald's! Well done."

A third unhappy user commented: "So the two best breakfast items gone."

While a fourth commented: "Two of the best items removed... Definitely no need for a maccies breakfast now."

The fast-food giant tried to soften the blow for fans by announcing that another breakfast item - the McMuffin - but it hasn't been good enough for the fans who said they "were not a patch" on the wraps and bagels.

Another user commented: "Bagel was 100% better than a muffin. Such a sad day."

"For 2 years I have suffered muffins waiting and hoping for the day that the good breakfast stuff comes back and now this! Betrayal", wrote a third user.

RIP Breakfast Bagel and Breakfast Wraps - you'll be sorely missed.
