New Delhi: The Supreme Court agreed to hear on Wednesday a plea filed by Aam Aadmi Party's (AAP) mayoral candidate Shelly Oberoi and others seeking early holding of the Mayor election for the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) after the polls could not be held for the third time in a row on Monday.
A bench comprising Chief Justice DY Chandrachud and Justices PS Narasimha and JB Pardiwala took note of the submissions of AAP seeking urgent hearing of the plea. “We will list it tomorrow,” the CJI said.
Advocate Abhishek Manu Singhvi appeared for mayoral candidate Shelly Oberoi and alleged “murder of democracy” claiming that despite two months having gone by, no elections have been conducted. (with Agency inputs)
