Mathew Street has been renamed in honour of Sir Paul McCartney.
The legendary musician is set to celebrate his 80th birthday tomorrow. Sir Paul is regarded as a national treasure and has enjoyed an incredible 65 years in the music business.
A range of events are being held across Liverpool to pay tribute to one of the city's greatest sons as he reaches the milestone age. Sir Paul skyrocketed to fame after he formed The Beatles with John Lennon and George Harrison in the 1960s.

The Fab Four were later joined by Ringo Starr and famously played in the Cavern Club in their early days during their rise to superstardom. The iconic venue is located on Mathew Street, which will be renamed McCartney Street until June 24 to mark Sir Paul's birthday.
Mathew Street is not the only name change to commemorate Sir Paul's birthday. A Mecca bingo hall in Knotty Ash has been renamed "Macca Bingo" to celebrate Paul's milestone birthday. The venue on East Prescot Road is just five miles away from Sir Paul's childhood home on Forthlin Road.
The change will remain in place for a week as Sir Paul's landmark birthday celebrations come to an end when he becomes the oldest ever act to headline the Pyramid stage at Glastonbury on Saturday, June 25.
Lucy Coy said: “We can’t wait to see our customers’ faces when they see the Macca Bingo logo this weekend. Sir Paul is such a national treasure, so we’re delighted to celebrate his special birthday and landmark performance with a rebrand in his honour.
"Sir Paul, if you’d like to take over the microphone from one of our callers, we’d love to see you!”
