Mbargo bouncer fired after 'shoving' Bristol clubber to the ground

A bouncer has been fired from their position at a popular Bristol nightclub after footage was circulated online appearing to show a clubber being pushed to the ground by a member of door staff. The video, posted on social media, shows the altercation outside Mbargo in Clifton.

On an Instagram post sharing the footage, the person who was pushed also alleged 'multiple females and males' were assaulted that night by the same bouncer.

They said: "This was not the only assault on my persons, he also punched me in the face and head. This footage comes after those attacks. Woke up with blood on my pillow and have to go to A&E, the police were called and this guy was left working on the door."

Avon and Somerset Police said in a statement that eight people have now alleged the same bouncer in question assaulted them in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The company responsible for the security at Mbargo, Overt Security, told The Bristol Tab that the bouncer in question has since been fired. A spokesperson said: “We take these matters extremely seriously. The individual has been removed from our company.

“We will assist with police investigations and also liaise with the Security Industry Authority to ensure this individuals license is reviewed.”

A spokesperson for Mbargo said: “Overt is an external company who are responsible for the security. Mbargo does not condone any violent or threatening behaviour and are appalled by the actions of the member of security involved. "

They added: "We will be reviewing our current security immediately following this incident and Overt are dealing with the person in question.”

Graphic images of two young men with split lips and blood on their faces have also been posted.

A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police told BristolLive: "“We’re aware of a video on social media of an incident outside Mbargo nightclub in Bristol which happened at around 1.30am yesterday (Sunday 22 January). We’d like to reassure people we attended the incident and continue to carry out enquiries to establish exactly what happened.

“Officers were initially deployed to the club following reports three people had been assaulted by a member of staff. On arrival, the member of staff made counter allegations against those he was accused of assaulting.

“Contact details for a number of those involved, as well as an independent witness, were obtained."

They continued: “An officer has spoken to the three people reportedly assaulted by the member of staff and identified five other people who also claim to have been assaulted by him. Arrangements have now been made to take statements from these eight people.

“Our investigation is in its early stages and we’d ask people not to speculate about what appears to have happened. As part of our inquiry, we will be reviewing CCTV from the club as well as any other footage available. Should any offences be identified, we will take appropriate action.

They added: “Violence, abuse, and intimidation against women and girls in any form, is not acceptable and will simply not be tolerated."
