Mbappe, Balogun, Dybala - Mauricio Pochettino's dream Chelsea attack in huge transfer spend

Mauricio Pochettino is tasked with turning things around at Chelsea as the new head coach begins his journey at Stamford Bridge. There are a host of issues to learn from in the previous season throughout the club, whether that surrounds transfer dealings and squad size or in the tactical setup of the team.

One of the key problems on the pitch in the last year has been putting the ball in the back of the net and that goes for all players in all positions. In 2022/23 the Blues managed just 38 goals in 38 Premier League games, with the side finishing 12th-place, their lowest in the new top flight.

Some exits in the transfer window have already been concluded to shake up the squad for the coming season, but there are some new faces too. Christopher Nkunku was the first signing of the summer, joining from RB Leipzig, where he would find the back of the net regularly.

That was followed by Villarreal striker Nicolas Jackson, who joins as a promising prospect to play at centre-forward for the Blues. With other options such as Mykhailo Mudryk, Raheem Sterling and Noni Madueke, there could still be some incomings to help add variety to the attack.

With that said, here's a look at three other signings that could make up a dream attacking lineup for Pochettino come the end of the summer transfer window.

Kylian Mbappe

It may be a bit of a no-brainer that Kylian Mbappe would improve most, if not all, attacks in the world if he were to make the move. The Frenchman could be free to leave PSG this summer after refusing to trigger an extension on his contract, meaning there are just 12 months remaining on his contract.

Mbappe has worked under Pochettino in the past and his insistence on using wingers that stick wide in his system means he could be the ideal signing for the left.

Folarin Balogun

Signing an elite No.9 in the modern game is very tough to do, meaning clubs may be better off making a move for youth and developing them. One player that has been linked with a move to Chelsea is Arsenal youngster Folarin Balogun, who impressed in a loan spell at Reims last season.

With the striker looking for game time this season, but with plenty of potential, there could be a bargain on the cards for a player that could suit the Blues.

Paulo Dybala

Speaking of bargains, Paulo Dybala could be available for as little as £10million this summer due to a release clause in his AS Roma contract. His ability to play as a second striker or as a number ten would add plenty of quality for a player that is now in his prime years.
