Mazda targets young buyers with facelifted 2 series

Mazda has launched the facelifted Mazda2 subcompact that not only comes with design updates but also a large mix of exterior and interior colour choices.

There are saloon and five-door hatchback body styles to choose from, as well as petrol and diesel engines with prices ranging from 599,000 baht to 830,000 baht.

The 2023 facelift features two front-end designs for customers to pick from. The Sport Design consists of a mesh grille design while the New Wave Design features a coloured front panel. Both designs come with their own package and colour choices.

In addition, there are two special edition models that come with special accessory packages. For example, the Rookie Drive Sports Edition (662,000 baht) features a front grille design in white, white/black roof, Racing Orange roof spoiler, door mirror cover, front grille/rear bumper accent, full wheel cap set and centre decal set.

The Mazda2 is powered by a 1.3-litre SKYACTIV-G petrol engine with a fuel economy of 23.3kpl while the high-spec 1.5-litre SKYACTIV-D diesel turbo engine does 26.3kpl.

The i-Activsense intelligent safety package is available along with wireless Apple Carplay/Android Auto, wireless smartphone charger and a 7-inch centre touchscreen with Center Commander controller.

Updated features offered in every variant include LED projector headlights with auto levelling, auto emergency braking, G-Vectoring Control Plus and a noise-reducing windscreen.

Mazda's Tadashi Miura said its intentions for the 2023 Mazda2 are not only to update its design but also to maintain its competitiveness in the subcompact car market.

"In addition, the launch of the new Mazda2 is to grow our customer base, which consists mainly of Gen Z buyers, a large population group that will grow in importance and become the leader of new trends in the future," he said.

Miura added that the large number of styling choices offered for the 2023 Mazda2 is to attract young buyers who want a vehicle that reflects their character.
