One of the big hitters in Connacht will fall by the wayside on the opening weekend of the 2023 Championship as Mayo take on Roscommon.
Both teams enjoyed strong League campaigns with Roscommon leading the way early on thanks to victories over Tyrone, Galway and Armagh.
However, they missed out on a place in the Division One final with Mayo getting the better of Galway in last Sunday’s decider in Croke Park.
Kevin McStay’s side also defeated the Rossies in Dr Hyde Park last month and they are strong favourites to set up a semi-final rematch with the Tribesmen on the stronger side of the Connacht SFC draw.
If Davy Burke’s men can rediscover their early season season, they’ll make life difficult for Mayo and Roscommon are never a team to write off.
