Maya Jama wows on at Black Panther: Wakanda Forever premiere as she swerves ex Stormzy

Maya Jama was able to steer clear of her ex-boyfriend Stormzy as she wowed on the black carpet last night. The Bristolian TV personality, who was recently announced as the next presenter of Love Island, looked incredible as she attended the 'Black Panther: Wakanda Forever' premiere in London on Thursday night (November 3).

28-year-old Maya, who grew up in Bristol and was a pupil at Cotham School in her youth, stunned in a red Aztec-style dress with a plunging illusion neckline, which she teamed with natural makeup, a messy bun, and a large silver choker, bearing a dramatic pendant. The Mirror reports that Maya was part of a galaxy of stars at the Leicester Square premiere, and was joined by famous faces such as Michaela Coel, Lupita Nyong'o, Martin Freeman, AJ Odudu, Sir Lenny Henry, Alex Scott and Leigh-Anne Pinnock.

Awkwardly for Maya, her ex-boyfriend Stormzy was also at the premiere, to which he wore a colourful fuschia suit. The Glow Up presenter was able to avoid her former partner, who she dated for five years from October 2014 until late 2019.

Just recently, Stormzy opened up about the ending of his relationship with Maya to Louis Theroux, which he said was 'like actual death'. The journalist explained to those watching the episode of his latest show 'Louis Theroux Interviews...' that the pair's relationship had broken down, before probing the rapper about the situation.

Stormzy explained to Louis: "My break-up, that was probably the biggest catalyst for growth as a man. I was like: 'Ok, you've made a mistake, and you [lost] someone you love, someone you cared for, someone that is special to you'.

"That's probably the biggest loss a man can have. Away from someone passing away, away from actual death, that's the biggest loss you can have."

Stormzy's comments about his break-up led to much fan speculation that the rapper is still in love with Maya. The Bristolian TV presenter became engaged to NBA star Ben Simmons late last year, although unconfirmed reports suggest the pair have now parted ways.
