Maya Jama gets in shape ahead of Love Island presenting debut

The new season of Love Island is set to start early in the new year and new host Maya Jama has been preparing for her first season on the hit reality TV show. The 28-year-old star was announced as the new host earlier in the year, replacing Laura Whitmore who stepped into the role in 2020.

Dressed in black sports-gear and with a huge smile on her face, the Bristolian TV presenter was seen flexing in a post on her PT’s social media, captioned “I GOT A MESSAGE, @loveisland your new host is in shape and ready.” Standing next to her PT post workout, Maya looked happy and carefree in the post she re-shared on her own Instagram account.

With her appointment as host she is the third person, and first woman of colour, to host the popular reality show. Maya will be on our screens earlier than originally thought, as Love Island producers announced they would be filming a winter version in South Africa.

When announcing the second ever winter season, ITV2’s Paul Mortimer said “So, rather than just serving up a Summer of Love, we thought we’d make 2023 the Year of Love with two full series of the show.” The first winter love Island gave us the likes of Shauna Phillips and another of Bristol’s own, Siannise Fudge.

Speaking after getting the gig earlier this year Maya said “I’ve always been such a massive Love Island fan and I’m so excited to be hosting one of the nation’s favourite shows! I can’t wait to get into the Villa to meet all of the Islanders.”

The presenter, who is rumoured to be back with ex Stormzy, will be jetting to the African country some time in January. With no set date yet, fans of the show are eagerly awaiting the release of the cast but have finally been given a sneak peak of the villa and its bigger and better than ever.

As for Maya Jama, the Bristolian beauty seems ready and raring to go. We cannot wait to see her on our screens in the new year.
