May bank holiday supermarket opening times for Morrisons, Tesco, Asda, Aldi and others

The last Monday in May usually offers up a second bank holiday in the month – although this year it is the third.

We've had three bank holidays this month - the first fell on Monday, May 1, and the second was on Monday, May 8, to celebrate the coronation of King Charles III.

The third and last bank holiday in May - also known as the Spring Bank Holiday - is today, Monday, May 29.

With bank holidays most Brits get to enjoy a three-day weekend - but it also means supermarket opening times may change.

While many will be well prepared for the long weekend, it’s handy to be aware of changes to store opening times should you need to embark on a last-minute supermarket run.

Here’s everything you need to know about when supermarkets are open and closed on Monday, May 29.

Asda

Over the bank holiday weekend, opening times at Asda are to remain the same as normal.

So on Saturday (May 27) the bigger Asda stores open at either 6am or 7am but close at around 10pm - this usually includes the stores open until midnight.

On Sunday (May 30) most Asda superstores will open for only six hours from either 10am or 11am, until 4pm or 5pm.

On the bank holiday itself, the majority of Asda stores will be opening 8am to 8pm including the 24 hour sites, however some stores report that they are opening a little earlier at 7am.

Scottish Asda stores will open under their usual trading hours - opening between 6am and 7am until between 10pm and midnight.
