May bank holiday opening times for supermarkets including Tesco, Aldi, Lidl, Asda and Morrisons

The early May bank holiday weekend is here, which means many people across the country will be enjoying three days off.

If you're planning to have friends or family over or need to stock up on your groceries, it's worth noting the opening times for supermarkets over the long weekend. This is because many stores alter their opening hours for bank holidays, reports Wales Online.

From Aldi to Tesco, we have rounded up the opening hours for all the major supermarkets on Monday, May 2. The majority of stores will be open at these times but, as always, it's worth checking your local store as opening times may vary depending on your location.

Aldi

Over the May bank holiday weekend, over 860 stores in England and Wales will be open until 10pm on April 30 and 4pm on Sunday, May 1, to ensure everyone can pick up everything they need to enjoy the long weekend.

Stores will be open until 8pm on bank holiday Monday. You can find out more below:

Saturday, April 30: 8am to 10pm

Sunday, May 1: 10am to 4pm

Monday, May 2: 8am to 8pm

The opening times of some stores may vary, so customers should check details on Aldi's website before their trip.

Tesco

The supermarket says that store opening hours on the Saturday and Sunday of the bank holiday weekend remain as normal. However, store opening hours on bank holiday Monday will vary depending on location and store type. Customers can find out specific information on their local store opening hours by using the store locator.

That being said the majority of large stores in England and Wales will be open from 8am to 6pm on Monday, with some open until 8pm. The majority of Express stores across the UK will have normal opening hours, unless they are based in a shopping centre.

Asda

The store has said that bank holiday opening hours are varied and depend on the store. It is requesting customers to check its website for an update on trading times over the long weekend, which you can find here.

Once there you'll find a Holiday Hours section with updated information. A quick search, however, suggests many branches will close at 8pm on Monday, May 2.

Sainsbury's

The majority of Sainsbury's supermarkets in England, Wales and Northern Ireland will be open between 8am and 8pm on bank holiday Monday, although the majority of supermarkets in Scotland and Sainsbury's Local stores will be open as normal.

Opening hours do vary though, so it's best to check the store locator for the latest details.

Lidl

A spokesperson said: "Opening times will vary from store to store across the bank holiday and we would therefore encourage customers to check the opening times of their nearest store via our online locator."

Morrisons

Morrisons stores will be open from 7am to 8pm on bank holiday Monday. You can find your local branch using the store finder, here.
