Maxwel Cornet, Lukasz Fabianski, Michail Antonio - West Ham injuries ahead of AEK Larnaca clash

West Ham United will be looking to return to winning ways when they head to Cyprus in the Europa Conference League on Thursday night.

The Hammers, who were thrashed 4-0 by Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday, head to the AEK Arena to take on AEK Larnaca in the first leg of their Europa Conference League round of 16 clash, having to complete a 5,000-mile round trip.

Ahead of the meeting with the Guardians, here is a look at West Ham’s current list of absentees.

Maxwel Cornet (calf)

Having not played for over five months, winger Maxwel Cornet made his playing return on Friday night, getting 45 minutes for the under-21s during their 5-1 defeat to Manchester City.

It was Cornet’s first taste of action since sustaining a calf injury on his first Premier League start for the club on October 1 against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

After a comeback at Rush Green three days ago, Cornet could be about to return to the first-team squad, with Moyes saying ahead of his run-out against City that he was close to being back available.

“Maxi is coming on. We’ll see how he is today,” Moyes said. “Hopefully we’ll get them closer to the first team in the coming weeks but I’m just waiting to see how they are.”

Vladimir Coufal (heel)

Right-back Vladimir Coufal has missed the last two matches due to a heel injury, which forced him off in the 4-0 win over Nottingham Forest.

Coufal had been nursing the issue going into the win over the Tricky Trees, but the severity of it forced him off at half-time.

As a consequence, Coufal missed the trips to Manchester United and Brighton.

“Vladimir Coufal has got a heel injury that will keep him out,” Moyes said ahead of facing the FA Cup defeat at Old Trafford.

Lukasz Fabianski (cheek/eye)

Goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski is set to return to action next month after fracturing his cheekbone and eye socket against Forest.

Fabianski was forced off midway through the second half after being caught by the knee of Forest defender Felipe after the Polish stopper innocuously went for the ball.

Speaking on it ahead of facing Brighton, Moyes confirmed that the goalkeeper had an eye operation which will keep him out of action until after this month’s international break.

“My belief is he had an operation this week,” said Moyes. “He had a plate inserted in his eye I believe. I think he had it on Thursday. We think it would be after the international break before he would be available again.”

Michail Antonio (hamstring)

Striker Michail Antonio missed the heavy defeat at Brighton following a hamstring issue sustained during the FA Cup loss to United.

Antonio started the game and played almost all of it before being replaced by Gianluca Scamacca late on.

“Michail Antonio just felt his hamstring after the game in midweek,” Moyes told football.london.

“The game in midweek took a lot of us, physically, it was big numbers we ran and we put a lot of effort in to try and get through in the cup and didn’t quite come off.”

Thilo Kehrer (illness)

German defender Thilo Kehrer was also set to be in the squad at Brighton but was forced to be removed after coming down with an illness hours before the game.

With Coufal also out, it left Ben Johnson as the only right-back available for the match.

“Thilo Kehrer went down sick during the night last night so I didn’t have anything I could do to alter that at any time in the game, as far as a right-back went,” said Moyes after losing to the Seagulls.

Angelo Ogbonna (unknown)

Hammers defender Angelo Ogbonna was forced off for the Hammers during their 4-0 hammering at the hands of Brighton.

Ogbonna was forced off with just over 20 minutes to go, going down injured after landing awkwardly when blocking a cross.

His exit saw Kurt Zouma replace him, who made his first appearance for over a month following a thigh injury.
