Maxwel Cornet deal 'already agreed' as major Everton transfer claim made

Everton reportedly have an 'agreement' in place with Burnley forward Maxwel Cornet, but the two clubs are still yet to reach a deal on a fee for the Ivory Coast international. Cornet was left out of the Burnley side who beat Huddersfield Town 1-0 in the first Championship game of the season on Friday night.

Frank Lampard has already raided relegated Burnley after signing defender James Tarkowski on a free transfer and more recently securing the signature of forward Dwight McNeil in a deal worth around £20 million.

According to But! Football Club, the Blues are in 'pole position' to sign Cornet, who impressed when arriving in the Premier League from Ligue 1 side Lyon last season.

The report also suggests that newly-promoted Fulham made a move for the Burnley star, but they were off no interest to Cornet. An agreement on a five-year contract at Goodison Park has 'already been agreed' according to the report.

Negotiations with Cornet have been said to be without any complications as the player is more than happy to move to Everton, but talks with Burnley are said to be more troublesome.

Everton matched the released clause of £17.6 million in Cornet's contract, but it wasn't all in one payment - like Burnley wanted. The offer was rejected by Vincent Kompany's side.
