Max Wober stunned by 'crazy' Leeds United support at Cardiff as debutant outlines next steps

New Leeds United signing Max Wober could not believe just how strong Leeds' away support was on his first outing in a Whites' shirt - labelling the travelling contingent as 'crazy' after they salvaged a late draw at Cardiff City in the FA Cup.

Having gone 2-0 down to the Welsh side inside just half-an-hour, Jesse Marsch rolled the dice with five substitutes - all of whom had an impact in the game. Rodrigo grabbed the one to half the deficit, Wober and Cody Drameh kept a tight ship at the back which gave Cardiff no room to operate, and Mateo Joseph alongside Sonny Perkins caused enough havoc to disrupt the back line - which the latter took full advantage off in the 93rd minute to register a draw.

And, while Wober won't make the headlines for his performance, the Austrian showed a calmness on the ball that was needed against lower league opposition. Leeds fans will appreciate his influence - and he certainly appreciated theirs, stating that bringing 6,000 fans to an away game on a Sunday is 'crazy' and that the tie 'felt like a home game'.

"Yeah, it was a great experience, I'm really happy to make my debut after so little days here at Leeds," Wober told LUTV.

"It's crazy. The guys were already talking before, saying that there was going to be 6,000 away fans and as soon as the game started, it felt like a home game. For me this is absolutely crazy!

"It felt fantastic, especially turning around the game and making it a draw with a chance to go through to the next round. It was a good day for us. It was not going pretty well for us. I think everyone who supported us saw that. I had the same feeling that everybody else had in that there was not much to win today, but we turned it around with great mentality and we can be really proud I think.

"I have just come from four weeks' vacation so the first goal is to get 100 per cent fit and then to get into the first XI, get minutes week-by-week and keep pushing with the team."
