Leeds United are in advanced talks to sign Austrian international Max Wober, according to the latest reports. The 24-year-old defender has been a mainstay in Jesse Marsch's former side RB Salzburg since signing for the club back in 2019.
It was the Whites head coach who signed the defender for the Austrian outfit and they could be set for a reunion at Elland Road later this month. The versatile defender has predominantly lined up at centre-back throughout his career but has also featured at left-back.
His arrival could bring an end to Leeds United's left-back conundrum having played the majority of the current campaign in that position. Wober has two goals and six assists in 21 appearances, earning praise from Salzburg’s sporting director Christoph Freund.

“Max is not only a really good defender just in the way we want of him,” said Freund. “He is also a real leader in the team who is happy to take on responsibility, which is an important factor for our young team.”
The Whites have struggled to fill the void at left-back, with injuries to Junior Firpo and question marks over his ability. Wober would bring Champions League experience to a back line that has struggled to keep the goals out this season.
Marsch's side have conceded 29 goals in the Premier League, the fifth worst defensive record in the division.
