Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Max Kilman has urged his side to build on a positive pre-season, starting with their Premier League opener against Leeds United.
Wolves kick-off their 2022/23 Premier League season with a trip to Elland Road to face Leeds on August 6. Bruno Lage’s charges won 4-0 and 3-0 against Alaves and Besitkas respectively during their pre-season tour of Spain.
Lage has deviated from his five-man defence in pre-season by fielding a 4-3-3 formation against Alaves and a 4-2-3-1 system in their victory over Besitkas. Wolves will close pre-season with friendlies against Sporting CP and Farense on Saturday and Sunday respectively and Kilman has called on his side to use both games to build on the positivity.

“It’s very important we build from this and especially get our minutes up, find a new way of playing and get our rhythm together,” Kilman told the Express and Star.
He added: “It’s been very positive and we just need to kick on from here. Of course it’s much different to playing in a back five but it’s something I need to get used to. It’s all positive and good for us. We can learn different formations and different positions, so it’s all positive for everyone.”
Wolves finished 10th place in Lage’s first season at Molineux and finished just five points adrift of European qualification. Leeds collected four points from Wolves last season – drawing 1-1 at Elland Road earlier in the season and prevailing 3-2 at Molineux in March.
