Max Johnston is poised to leave Motherwell this summer as three European clubs enter the race for his signature.
Record Sport revealed last week that runaway English Championship leaders Burnley were on the heels of the Scotland youth right-back. There have been high hopes for Johnston at Fir Park, who has established himself as the number one in his position after loans at Queen of the South and Cove Rangers. But that spell looks set to be short lived, as suitors from around the continent circle for the talent who's a free agent come July.
Ligue 1 club Monaco would provide one glamorous location and are one team interested, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano. The German route has proven successful for UK talents in recent years and Augsburg can offer that to Johnston it's claimed, while Serie A and Udinese has also been touted as the third club.
Bologna - who have Lewis Ferguson and had Aaron Hickey - are reported as suitors previously. Johnston created an assist in Motherwell's recent 4-2 Premiership defeat to Rangers.
