Max George defended after he claps back at accusations he's 'changing' girlfriend Maisie Smith

Max George has clapped back at claims he's 'changing' Maisie Smith as the pair posed for a set of loved-up snaps in New York. The couple rung in the New Year in the Big Apple after jetting off on their latest getaway.

Since going public with their romance in September, Maisie, 21, and Max, 34, have gone on a string of holidays including to Lapland and Dubai just before the festive season. But their latest trip saw them welcoming 2023 in spectacular fashion as they headed stateside and the duo have been keeping their respective social media followers in the loop as they ventured around the city.

But over the weekend, Maisie stunned as she headed out on a date with her beau on Broadway. The former EastEnders actress, who played Tiffany Butcher in the BBC soap, stepped out in a red silky mini dress with thigh-split detailing which she sported with a pair of black lacy stockings.

The 21-year-old star channelled Hollywood glamour with her hair worn slicked back before completing the look with strings of pearls around her neck and red bow-detail heels. Meanwhile The Wanted star Max, from Manchester, sported a white-knitted jumper under a black coat with stone-coloured trousers. But he also sported red and white Nike Air Jordans to match with his other half.

"Life with you," both Max and Masie captioned their join post, adding a red heart emoji. The comments soon came flooding in with plenty of compliments for the pair.

However, it was some of the negative responses that caught Max's attention and he couldn't help but reply to one follower who wrote: "Anyone noticed how he's trying to make her look and act differently then her normal self." Hitting back, the singer replied: " Yeah I am aren’t I Mandy.. shut up."

Maisie's mum, Julia Smith, was also getting involved with her commenting: "Anyone noticed that no one cares what you think?" Others were also quick to defend the couple against some of the negative reactions.

@_ashpatel said: "I’ve been reading through some of the comments. All I can say, is haters will always hate in a bid to fill the deficiencies in their own lives. Pay them no attention. They don’t deserve it. You look fabulous!" @juliesnowdon1 wrote: "Do none of you know that you can have a thought that stays in your head? You don't have to write it down!"

@traceygreen69 added: "@maxgeorge makes me laugh how so many wanna slate u and @maisiesmithofficial. You are perfect together. Life’s to short to bother what others think. Being happy means more than anything." Maisie and Max met on Strictly Come Dancing back in 2020 before striking up a relationship last year.
